Art files for LASER Engraving, Full Color Printing or metal Imaging

Our preference is            Corel Draw .cdr Ver. 5, through 10

.tif .cpt or .jpg files

                                         IF they are at least 300 d.p.i. * 

Importable Files (Some times import files do not work or import a distorted image or modified colors, text etc.)

              adobe illustrator .ai 

              adobe portable document file .pdf or       encapsulated postscript .eps

(only for straight printing files, we can not merge, modify or repeat the image if it is saved as an .eps or .pdf file) .pdf files are printer specific. They are intended to be used by designers who know ALL the parameters of the output device. As we use 7 different color/ink/resin and laser devices for output, there is no way your designer could begin to understand the quirks of each machine.

CAUTION: .tif, .cpt, jpg and gif files are almost always 72 d.p.i. or lower.

                                One of two things will happen if you send a file that is LESS THAN 300 d.p.i.

                                One will be that we print the job and you hate it

Two is we waste time opening the file and then communicating the problem which will result in additional art charges.

ALL INTERNET images are low resolution. We can not increase the resolution without distorting the image.

CAUTION: Multiple files and/or multiple sheets/pages will only cause confusion, delays and added costs.

Choose the art you want us to use and send only one file.

CAUTION: if you are e-mailing from a MAC do NOT use any file compression software, we will not be able to open the file.

CAUTION: re: Fonts. If you are using Draw or Illustrator, you must convert the fonts to curves (outline) or our similar fonts will change the spacing and some of the characteristics of the text. If your job is a merge print order, you must specify the font style and we will use our Font that is closest.

Supply as much information as possible, including a laser or ink jet print, colors, font names, etc. AND the program and version it was created in. If you DO NOT supply a hard copy with the file, then we have no clue what the file is supposed to look like, the risk is yours.

Caution...MAC files Although we are fairly proficient at opening MAC discs, there is no guarantee we can open yours. You MUST convert all your fonts to outline, you MUST save the file on a PC formatted disc. Do NOT use any disc compression software.

Most Illustrator, PhotoShop and PageMaker files can be opened. NO Quark Files.
